Radiation and Optics Laboratory research fields are radio communications and optical communications with the primary focus on the physical level of the telecommunication network. Currently, the laboratory research activity includes transmission of synchronization signal via optical fibres, new generation of optical access networks, adaptive antennas and advanced radio interfaces for next generation mobile communications, including satellite communications for small satellites. The laboratory team is responsible for design and development of both analogue and high-speed digital microwave electronics for the optical and microwave communication equipment, 3D modelling and simulation of passive microwave structures and development of antennas for up to terahertz frequency range. Laboratory cooperates with industrial partners as well as research institutions.
For last 20 years it regularly organizes seminars in the field of optical and radio communications, which represent transfer of knowledge from university to the Slovenian industrial environment. The laboratory is also involved in educational process where it’s giving lectures for courses in the field of electromagnetic radiation, optical and radio communications. Lectures are supported by a broad spectrum of exciting, dynamic and educational lab exercises.
